Found Houses began in 2015 and continues today as I explore abandoned or forgotten homes that shine in their imperfections. While some might find these images sweet, they are an homage to a lifelong battle I have with what is considered beautiful, attractive, and worthy of display.
They have become the subject of portraiture and offer a mirror into my own distorted feelings of self-worth and self-image. They speak to nostalgia while exploring disconnection, emptiness, and darkness. I experiment with mark making, media combinations (including salt, string, and gel medium), and layering to add to the complexity and history behind each image.
